There is much interest in theamatour Golf Championships, owing to the presence of a number of American champions, including Chick It, vans, lioddard, Doctor Hunter (Californian champion), and Guildford, the famous big hitter, some of whom in the early stages made a good showing against the leading English players. In the second round Tolley (champion), beat Guildford. W. H. Hodson, a little known English player, beat Ouimet. In the fourth round Beddard beat Tolley. In the fifth round Wright (America) beat the veteran John Ball; Darwin boat Doctor Hunter. GOLF RESULTS. (Received This Day at 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, May 26 Kirkwood and Arthur Duncan (a New Zealander) beat Roberts and Heron (professionals) in morning and afternoon rounds at Stokepoges. Kirkwood’s iron play was brilliant. He scored 73.
