BOLSHEVISM IN AFGHANISTAN DELHI, May 24.
A Kabul newspaper announces the format-oil at Bokhara of an Afghan Revolutionary Society, aiming at the overthrow of tho Government of Afghanistan. The Society is being encouraged by the Bokhara Soviet Government. The paper comments that Afghanistan did its utmost to ensure Bokhara’s freedom and independence. The action of Bokliara in this matter prompts the question: Is this its reward for Afghanistan’s devoted friendship? If somebody else is responsible, what can lie the meaning of Bokhara’s indepen deuce. The present Bokharan Govern - incut is Bolshevik. Does this news foreshadow the -Bolshevik’s intention to try and repeat in Afghanistan the overthrow successfully achieved by the Bolsheviks in Bokhara?

Field Marshall Sir Henry Wilson presided at the Colonial Institute’s Empire Day dinner. In proposing the toast of a United Empire lie said that he hoped that the day would eonie when the Empire would he able to sny to the world: “There shall ho no more war,” and then there would he no more war. They had seen the destruction of fontgreat empires, Russia, Germany, Austria and Turkey, hut an empire wrecked was a catastrophe. They still heard the spluttering of bullets in Silesia, in Turkey, Mesopotamia and in Ireland.

During the fighting in Wardristall, a large force of tribesmen surprised the Fifty-eighths Rifles, who charged with bayonets and killed 30 and captured 20, recovering stolen rifles.
