June next, for the purpose of augmenting the funds of the Beautifying Association we learn that an excellent programme has been arranged. The Tnangahua “Times” says:—On Tuesday a rumour was prevalent in Reefton that a young prospector had discovered a reef Stevenson’s Flat side of the range from Alexander Valley. Two more prospecting areas have been applied for, this time oil the Inangahua side, where the reef is said to be making. -Air T. Patterson brought to town some stone from his prospecting area at Alexander River. The stone is good looking, but does not show any visible gold. It will be assaved at the local School of Mines.
In granting three prospecting licenses at the Warden’s Court at Reefton on Friday, the Warden, Mr W. H. Bundle, stated that prospecting licenses were granted only on the express undertakFng by the licensee:—(l) That he will forthwith upon the granting of the license commence and continuous I '' throughout the term for which the license is granted, prosecute and cany on prospecting operations on the land comprised in the license.
