Alexandria Riots
AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z* CABLE ASSOCIATION
AIM OF EGYPTIANS. E - . CAIRO, May 23. The majority oT the rioters in Egyp lg are supporters of Zaghloul Pasha, th ~ 1 National Leader. Their avowed ain is to seize the police stations and over ’’ throw the Government. Thus they ar challenging the Sultan’s rescript ap ’ o pointing the Yeghea Delegation to g< to London. One trouble is that Zaghloul wantec ( -e to be the leader of the Egyptian Dele yj gabion, instead of Adley Pasha, thi present Premier, who was appointed in stead of Zaghloul some time ago. If is pointed out that his tour of the Continent last year showed that Zaghlou was merely a demagogue, whereas Adley is stated to be an able statesman. t ENQUIRY DEMANDED. n CAIRO, May 23. f> Zaghloul has sent a letter to the ” Sultan of Egypt. He declares the pre- „ sent Cabinet is responsible for the disorders, because it is acting contrary to the promise made to the nation. Zaghloul demands a committee of in- •. quiry. !- FORTY-EIGHT PEOPLE KILLED.
