FIGURES FOR PAST YEAR

For the past financial year the Dominion’s revenue totalled £54,249,938, as against £41,320,900 in the previous year, ordinary revenue showing an increase of upwards of eight millions — from £25,744,367 to £33,8(3,346. Other increases were :—Customs revenue, 3) millions; stamps and death duties, over £400,000; post and telegraphs, £540,000; land tax, £130,000; income tax, 2f{ millions; railways, over a million.
On the expenditure side, permanent appropriations show an increase from £11,389,000 to £12,234,724, and annual appropriations an increase from £12,392,463 to £15,834,004. The main increases are:—Rost and Telegraphs from £1,941,494 to £2,588,;559; working railways, from £4,305,965 to £6,211,001 ; Justice Department from £571,491 to £725,971; Internal Affairs Department from £336,356 to £632,660; Education Department, lrom £2,031,824 to £2,460,115. The'Agricultural Department shows a decrease of over half a million, and other Departments also show reductions.
