GERMAN FORCES ADVANCE. LONDON, May 23 The “Daily Mail” has a correspondent accompanying the Germans in Silesia. He telegraphs that the Germans have attacked the Polish forces in Grossteiner Forest. They did so on Sunday. The Polish irregulars hurriedly evacuated the villages. They, however, looted and set fire to the Grossteinei Castle. They also left notices threatening the destruction of the factories and mines in the towns if they are forced to retreat. • The “Daily Mail” correspondent adds that a large number of German volunteers have attacked the Poles with revolvers. The Germans are now armed with rifles that they have taken from Polish dead. . The Germans are elated at this initial success. They are consolidating their positions. HEAVY FIGHTING. IN UPPER SILESIA. LONDON, May 22 The “Times” has a correspondent with the Polish troops. He reports that there was incessant fighting on Saturday in the Rosenberg, Kune/.berg, Ratibor and Krappitz’areas in Upper Silesia. He says the Polish troops there are strongly armed. M.
