Timber For Coal Mines

TREE PLANTING AT HDNTLY

The Department of State Coal Mines has started tree planing operations at Waikokowai, near Huntly, Waikato district. In getting this very ‘important productive work under way the State Forest Service is co-operating in every possible way. It is understood that these trees will be planted with a view to providing future supplies of Linker for mining purposes, and it is expected that planting will be continued from year to year to keep pace with the timber requirements of the State coalmines. The trees which are being planted are eucalyptus.soligna and pinus radiata.
