The New York “Herald’s” London correspondent says Mr Martin Glynn, a former Governor of New York, met Hon Lloyd George who authorised him to transmit the following message to the Irish leader:—“] will meet Do Valera or any Irish leaders without condition on my part, and without expecting any promise from them. It is the only way a conclusion can he reached.” Mr Glynn entrusted the “Herald” correspondent to deliver the message to Do Valera. The latter replied:— “There can lie no settlement until Britain recognises Ireland’s right to choose freely and independently, her own form )f .Government and political instituions at'home; also her relationship vith foreign nations.
