Thoughts For The Times
Education is National Salvation. Speaking at Christchurch, Mr Parr, Minister of Education urged that the best developmental work in New Zealand was the development of the boys’ and girls who would handle the country in the future. ‘‘The Future,” he concluded, “ will go to the nation that spends money—even, I was going to say, wastes money—on education. Tt will go to the nation that trains for a nation’s work. The nations whose rulers have any sense know that education of the children on right lines is the only salvation of democracy.” •
