AWARDS MADE BY SENATE
WELLINGTON, May 13 At a meeting of the Senate of the University of New Zealand held to-day, senior scholarships for the year 1920 were awarded as follows: — Harding, Winifred Mary Elsie (Victoria), in English'. McNaughton, Allan Thomas (Otagoi, in Latin. Smith, William Miller (Auckland), in French. Wood, George Ernest Francis (Victoria), in Economics. Ryburn, William Morton (Otago), in History. Hubbard, John (Otago), in Philosophy. Black, Donald Harrison (Canterbury), in Mathematics. McDowell, Frederick Henry (Otago), in Physics. Finlay, Harold John (Otago), in Chemistry. Bennett, Edward William (Canterbury), in Botany. Joyce, Mary Ellen (Victoria), in Zoology. Additional scholarships for the yeai 1920 were awarded to the following:— M.oir, Robert William (Otago), in French. Porter, Leila Edith Donaldson (Auckland), in History. A special War scholarship was awarded to the following:— Espiner, Robert Henry (Victoria), in Latin. The John Tinline Scholarship for the year 1920, was awarded to Mona Sutcliffe Woodhead (Otago). Further awards were made as follows : Post Graduate Scholarship in Arts.— Beatrice A. Wilson (Auckland University College). Engineering Travelling Scholarship.— Ronald J. Beckle.v, B.E. (Canterbury University College). Medical Travelling Scholarship.—C. M. Bevan Brown, M.A. (University of Otago). Free Passsages.—l. L. G. Sutherland, M.A. (Victoria University College); Catherine Hogg, M.A. (University of Otago); Esther M. North, B.A. (Victoria) University College); D. H. King (Auckland University College).
