SIR J. ALLEN.

CRITICISED BY MR HOLLAND

(BY TKLEGJtAPII —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION

WESTPORT, May 10

Speaking at a Labour function here to-night, Mr H. E. Holland, M-P-, Chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party, referred to Sir James Allen’s recent contribution to the “Manchester Guardian.” He said that if tlie cabled reports were correct, Sir James Allen had misused his position at High Commissioner to propagate an inferential falsehood concerning tho Labour Party. It was utterly untrue that there was a lack of cohesion in the Labour Party’s ranks, and it was likewise untrue that a number of Labour members did not favour constitutional methods. There wo r a only eight Labour members in the pivsenfc Parliament and every one of them was loyal to the uolicy of the organised Labour Movement, which stood for constitutional methods, as a glance at the Labour platform, would show. He said that Sir James Allen’s indiscretion would be brought before Parliament at the first opportunity. M r Holland described Mr Wilford’' remarks in this connection as a some what ill-tempered and an altogether ludicrous outburst, which would prove a source of merriment to the Laboui movement, but was hardly deserving of notice otherwise.
