In accordance with a resolution of tho Presbyterian General Assembly Union Committee, that body recently met the Union Committee of the Congregational Union to consider suggestions made by the latter towards a. basis of union. This is now being submitted to Presbyterians throughout Now Zealand. The General Assembly at its next meeting is in no way bound to accept the basis proposed as a whole or in part, but it is hoped that either the basis now submitted, or as amended by tiro Presbyteries, will be definitely adopted down to tire Presbyteries under tire Barrier Act. As-, suming that the churches of the Congregational Union approve of the Assembly’s finding, and return it undei the Barriers Act, a satisfactory union may be an accomplished fact. “The first meeting of the United Churches takes place,” states the Convener of the Assembly’s Committee, (Rev.
