A CHARGE DISMISSED
AVELLINGTON, May 6
Patrick Hodgkins Hickey and John Glover appeared before Mr F. K. Hunt S.M., this morning on a charge of committing breaches of the War Regulations by publishing and selling respectively a document, “The Irish Tragedy —Scotland’s Disgrace,” which according to the Crown expressed ‘sedition intention contrary to the AVar Regulations No 4. The Magistrate dismissed the charges. He said the document had a seditious intention in Great Britain, but the question for him to decide was whether it had a seditious tendency. In this case he was not satisfied that the document was within tho sanction of the Act and would therefore dismiss the information. RELATIVES SOUGHT. WELLINGTON, May 6. The following deeasad members of the Australian Imperial Farces, whose birth place is shown as in New Zealand, appear on a schedule of unclaimed personal effects and medals: —A. Brooke, Sixteenth Battalion, AVellington; E. Buckley, Fifty-sixth Battalion, AVaikari; J R. Camerin, Twelfth Battalion, Gore; H. AV. Cooke, Second Battalion, Wanganui; P. McFarlano, Twenty-sixth Battalion, Auckland; N. McKay, Camel Corps, Dunedin. All endeavours to trace their relations have failed and the Australian authorities are anxious to find some blood relations who would accept and treasure mementoes of those gallant soldiers. NURSES’ HOSTEL. TIMARU, May 6
Hon C. J. Parr, Minister for Health and Education, at Timaru to-day opened the Nurses’ Hotel, which has just been erteted at a. cost of £12,000 at the Timaru Hospital.
Tho Afinister left later for Christchurch.
FATAL ACCIDENT. • AUCKLAND, May 6. Leonard Tnmlin, a seaman, on the cruiser Chatham, fell over tho bannisters at the Market Hotel, and fractured his skull. He died on admission to the hospital.
ALEXANDER REEF
EXCITEMENT IN REEFTON

The new gold reef at Alexander River is exciting much attention in Rcefton and district.
The reef has been traced a mile and a quarter front the top of tho hill to a valley. The stone continues to he strong, well defined and rich. A large number of visitors are in Rcefton, who are going to the scene of operations. Two additional prospecting parties left Reefton this morning per motor ear for Stevenson’s Flat, the nearest route of aeccess. The motor made the return journey to only four miles from the -new find, in 3) hours. A track is being made to the find by money subscribed by Reefton citizens.
MOTOR MISHAP
WANGANUI, May 2
A party comprising Mr F. B. Williams (Mayor of Waltgamii), Mr Webb Jones, editor of the Wanganui “Herald,” Mr Inkster and Mr Staveley, Borough engineer, had a miraculous escape. Motoring to join Hon Coates, when about five miles from Tvarori the car axle broke while the ear was going up a hill at 8 p.m. The ear tipped on one side, and. hung in the balance tor a few seconds, and then righted itself with the forepart hanging over a declivity.
