A crowded meeting at the Town Hall carried a 'motion protesting against the burning of the Union Jack in the domain on Sunday. The hall was full for two hours before the meeting eonmiene'ed; and overflow meetings were held in the streets in the vicinity.
HOSPITAL COLLECTION. SYDNEY, May 8.
The annual hospital collection was taken up to-day. The amount realised was considerably smaller than last year.

In the Federal Senate, Senator Russell announced that in view of large numbers of immigrants now due to arrive, the clause in the Immigration Lawwill be enforced that prohibits the entry into the Commonwealth of any person who is epileptic, insane, or who has been insane with five years.
