At the conclusion of the business sheet at the Magistrate’s Court tb s morning, the Bar took the occasion to bid farewell to Air Orr-Walker S.M., who is leaving on Tuesday next for New Plymouth to which district Ivlins been transferred. Air Park (Crown Presocutor) said be understood this was the last occasion on which Air Or Walker would p«eside over this Court. He said he wished to congratulate Air Orr "Walker on his promotion, hilt they regretifd his approaching departure very much. The relations between the Bench ann Bar had been most cordial and Ihcy recognised that the judgments given had been’sound. They were very sorry to lose him. The West Coast hud been fortunate in having many petal magistrates. ITe was glad the trnnsfi i would lead to a larger sphere that would give greater scope for his undoubted talents. They would have b.\ ed to have kept him among them, hut such they could not do and so he wished to express the entire satisfaction his actions at all times had i on the Bar. He expressed his goo.l wishes for the future. Air R. Wells supported Mr Park’s remarks and expressed his personal sorrow at Mr Orr Walker leaving the district. He wished him every su.cess. Afr J. A. Murdoch said they weie please dto hear of the transfer ns it meant promotion, well deserved, 1 i.tj they had many regrets at losing Irni. It was worthy of note that no appeals had l>oen lodged against his decisions. Ho had worthily upheld trie high l-a-ditions of his predecessors. He conveyed his personal regrets and good wishes.

Air A. G. Pilk-ington added x few words of farewell. He regretted bis departure but from personal amr.vledge he knew he would have furf fr opportunities in New Plymouth for showing his ability. He congratulred him on the transfer and wished him everv success.

Mr C. Sellers joined in congratulating Air Orr-Walker on his promotion and thanked him for the lrmines® and courtesy extended to the members of the Bar and the courtesy and firmness with which he had dea t with the Court business. He wood carry with him their very best good wishes for the future. Air Orr-Walker in the course of a feeling reply said he felt deeply mo-.-! bv their very kind words of farev.cll He had most pleasant recollections of the very fine welcome to the district that lie had received, and that welcome hail continued during his star He would never forget the very many kindnesses shown to himself and wife in this district. These could not bo easily forgotten. He was going to a district where be was well known but he could not expect more kindness than thev had shown him. The kindness and support they had given mm on his arrival had been deeply appte dated He had listened to counsel at all times and had given his decisions to the best of his ability. LT.s stay in this district he would never forg ‘t and ho hoped to come this way again if it wore onlv to see the bemitmil scenery of this’ district. There was nothing in his opinion to equal beautiful views of their lakes and southern Alps as was to be seen in South Westland. He was sure his successor would give satisfaction. He wenthem all good health and prosperity to themselves and the district and thanked them heartily for their kind words of farewell. He also desired to pu“ licly express his thanks to the staff and police for their very able assistance. They were lucky indeed to ha such a capable Court staff and lie desired to acknowledge the great assistance they had at all times given him. The Bar then asked Mr Orr-Walker to meet them at the Soldiers Ohm at 2.30 p.m., to partake of afterno m tea, the invitation being willingly cepted,
