HOKITIKA HARBOUR BOARD

TUESDAY, MAY 3rd. 1921

A special meeting of the Board was held at 4 p.m. Present Messrs C. J. Nightingale, J. Lloyd, F. McGregor, T. W. Bruce, M. Houston and G. A. Wood. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN.

The Secretary took the chair and notified the election of Messrs J. Lloyd, Francis McGregor and G. A. Wood as borough representatives; also T. W. Bruce for Ross district. The Secretary then called for nomination for the position of chairman for the ensuing year. Messrs G. A. Wood and J. Lloyd were nominated, but" the latte,- withdrew bis nomination, and Mr 0. A. Wood was declared duly elected, and took the cliair, and returned thanks for their confidence, stating that he would do Ills best on behalf of the harbour.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

INWARD CORRESPONDENCE

From A. A. Andrewes, returning officer, notifying the return of Messrs Lloyd, McGregor and Wood as borough representatives for the borough. Received.

From 0. Borton, Secretary, thanking Board for increase in salary.—Received. From G. Howe, assistant, reporting the channel running fairly straight to sea, with a depth of' 11 feet. Notifying buildings require repairing and painting, also asking for slight increase in salary.—Received and agreed to.

From .T. Klein, Melbourne, forwarding cheque for rates. —Received. Various catalogues from several business firms were read and received. It was resolved {that an effort he made to secure a competent man to do some repair work to wharf and build-

ings. Tt was resolved that the Bank of New Zealand be notified of change of sig»ature for authority to sign.

It was resolved that the Harbour Board insurance he placed with the South British Insurance Company.'

The signal flags being in a had state it was resolved to hare them repaired. In answer to a question, it was stated that Mr Wild was paying rent for the use of the Board’s office. The Chairman moved that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded to all retiring members, especially appreciating the past services of Mr Wild. All members eulogisirtg the good work done by Mr Wild on the Board. It was resolved that the Chairman lie empowered to represent any conference that may eventuate in re the Grey Harbour rating district. The meeting then ndjouVned.
