The inquiry concerning the explosion of the steamer Kapuni at Patea on January 25th concluded to-day. The Court found that the explosion was due to the negligent net of the fireman in obtaining benzine instead of kerosene for the purpose of cleaning condensers, and that the engineer committed an error of judgment in not stopping the engines as soon as he became aware that benzine had been poured into the condensers.
