As a result of the conference between the British Embassy, representatives of various shipping interests, and the Stale Department, the Department of Justice will he approached with a view to securing a modification ol the recent ruling, under the Prohibition Laws, which would have the effect of barring vessels with intoxicating liquors aboard from all United States ports.

Embarrassing complications are foreseen, says the Washington correspondent of the NV.v York Times, if efforts sh mid he made to apply this ruling to foreign ships, hut the Assistant Secreiaiy of the Treasury announced yesterday that, pending the outcome of a conference with the Government’s legal advisers, no action would he taken under it.
