SOUTH ISLAND NEEDS
PARLIAMENTARY TOUR ARRANGED.
A tour of the South Island will be commenced this month by the North Island country members of the Reform Party in Parliament. They will he conducted on the tour by the South Island members of the party, and the object is to impress on the Northerners the needs of the South Island as regards public works, etc., and the potentialities of this island in respect of wheat growing and production generally.
The tour will take place during the last week of April and the first week of May. The party will assemble in Wellington on the 25th inst., and the itinerary is as follows: April 25th—Wellington to Blenheim, via Picton. April 26th —Blenheim to Kaikoura. April 27th—Kaikoura to Christchurch April 29th.—Christchurch to Lake Coleridge power works; back to Christchurch in the evening. April 28th—Visit to Sir Heaton Rhodes’s Otahuna estate and Lincoln Agricultural College. April 30th—Leave Christchurch by train for Ashburton; thence by car through farm lands, via Mayfield and Geraldine, to Temuka. Civic reception at Temuka. May Ist—Temuka to Hermitage, 130 miles, by Mt Cook Motor Company’s cars. May 2nd—Spend the day at Hermitage. May 3rd—Hermitage to Pembroke. Lake Wanaka. May 4th—Wanaka to Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu. May sth—Queenstown to Winton. May 6th—Winton to Invercargill, via western districts. May 7th—lnvercargill to Christchurch, leaving same night for Wellington.
