Mr Hughes is sailing by the Orvieto on the 29th. Mr appealed to shop-keepers, and employers in Victoria to observe Anzac Day as a holiday. MR HUGHES’ GIFT. (Received this day at 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, April 22. j In the House of Representatives, Mr Hughes, replying to Mr Brennan,, stated the presentation of £25,000 did not involve a breach of the constitution. Mr Cook declined to answer whether -or Hughes paid income tax on the gift, describing the question as contemptible.
