Ah- AVhite (AYest Coast Truant Officer) reported that the sickness among the younger children had improved; 22 visits to schools and 38 visits to homes of pupils had Been paid; 38 truancy lists had been sent in, and 28 ordinary and three final notices issued.

A letter was received from the Department, intimating that teachers are t« bo allowed to mark as present at school, children who are absent receiv-

ing dental treatment. The Education Department brought under notice a circular from the Jamdon County Council relative to int.'.ebange of teachers. It was agreed to forward copies to tlic several branches of the Educational Institute.

Tim Department wrote stating that for the present only applications for urgent works could lie considered. It was resolved to give as much publicity as possible to this information. A letter was received from the Department stating that the proposal for rebuilding the Awatunu school must be considered in order of urgency when funds were available. Two tenders were received for the erection of the Cobden School building, lieth of which were much ill excess of the money available. It was resolved to bold the matter over when toe erection of the building by the Board s staff would be considered. Air Bignell and the Foreman were asked to report on the mutest for the removal of an old building from K.,maka to Kaiata.

The Okuru Committee's application for a grant of £5 for repairs was

granted. The Foreman was authorised to attend to Fpper Kokatahi Committees application for repairs to gate and building.
