Some representatives of the Colliery Firemen’s Association met at Cardiff, and passed a resolution of strong protest against the Miners’ Federation’s peremptory action, which they declare ignores thio Associations rights and existing contracts. The “Daily Chronicle” says the Miners Executive think if they issued an order to man the pumps it would not he obeyed by the men. . The Premier, when he meets the miners Executive this morning, may bridge the difficulty. Coalowners have prepared a new wages scheme in anticipation of the conference. They offer better wages for adult day men. ABORTIVE MEETING. (Received This Day at 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, April ’I. A meeting between the Premier and the Miners Executive was abortive. The miners declined to order the pumpmen to resume on the grounds that if they did they would surrender their only vital bargaining weapon •
