PICNIC PARTY ENDANGERED

LONDON, April 4
A large number of women and children picnicking in the mountains south of Dublin were nearly involved in a conflict with the Crown forces. Some GO civilians were engaged in a. militaij manoeuvre. The authorities at Dublin, on leainiiiir of the despatched several car loads Of auxiliary forces to the scene. These chased the Republicans across the country. The Republicans, however, ignited some furze, and tins improvised a smoke screen. Police state many rebels mingled with the picnickers preventing the police tiling.

A woman has identified the idead man in the mortuary. She says he was recently on duty in Ireland. He was on leave when lie was murdered. The police, have reconstructed the crime.
From the mud stains and other indications on the body they say 'the victim was apparently caught a considerable distance away and forced into a. car by two men, who, together with the driver, drove along Kingston road to the golf course. There, the police say, the man was dragged from the car. He was forced to kneel and to say prayers. Then he was killed by three revolver shots.
