WESTLAND RACING CLUB.
MONDAY, APRIL 4th. CO M MITT EE MEETIN G.
Tho Committee of tho Club met at the club rooms last evening at 8.45 o’clock. Present: Messrs W. E. Williams (chair), R. Whiley, J. J. Mclntosh, H. A. Thompson, J. Peake, W. G. Keller, H. Rutland, F. McGregor and D. J. Evans.
The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed.
The President of the Racing Conference wrote regretting his inability to attend the autumn meeting.- Receiv-
Mr R. Fane, Christchurch wrote expressing his inability to attend the Easter meeting, but hoped to be across at Christmas, also extending good wishes to the members and club. —Received. It was stated Air Dunn (Koitcrangi) had act cad very efficiently as clerk of the course, and a cordial vote of thanks was passed to Mr Dunn tor his services.
Dr Buchannan wrote conveying thanks for his appointment to the lion surgeon st.iff. Received. The New Zealand Racing Conference asked the club to submit dates for the next racing season. ’Hie following were selected, December 20th and 27th for Christmas meeting, April 19th, 1922, (Easier Wednesday) for autumn meeting.
The Conference notified the nomination of Messrs Evans (Hokitika), Patterson (Westport), and Stapleton (Reef ton) for District Club representatives on the Racing Conference, two to ho elected. The Chairman was deputed to exercise the Club’s two \otes in the matter.
Tin Conference notified the nomination of Messrs Evans and W illiams (Hokitika), Gilbert, (Greymouth), Hamilton (Nelson), Patterson (Westport) and Perotti (lteeflon) for delegates to District Committee—five to lie elected. The Chairman was deputed to vote on behalf of the Club. Messrs G. Delbridge and J. J. Breeze .Jnr. were elected members of the Club.
The Treasurer submitted a statement of the receipts and expenditure in connection with the late race meeting, showing an estimated surplus on the day’s turnover of about £4OO. Ihe statement was received as very satisfactory. and proving a record result for an Easter meeting. Special votes ol thanks were passed to the ladies for their success in organising the refreshment and luncheon rooms, and for tin’ great personal interest taken in the welfare of the Club, totes o| appreciation to the officials for their attention to the various departments were
also passed. The smoothness with which the meeting had pa-sod off. and the very enjoyable character of the «tport provided, wore very favourably commented on.
Sonic minor internal alterations to the totalisator building were agreed upon, and it was resolved the members of the Committee visit the course the next afternoon to arrange for the pushing on ol further work in connection with tin' training track. The meeting concluded at 10 p.m.
