AVONDALE RACES. FIRST DAY’S RESULTS. [bv TKLUGBAPII —I’Klt PIUCS.S ASSOCIATION] AUCKLAND, April 2 The Avondale Jockey Club’s autumn meeting opened to-day in glorious weather, with a large attendance. The totalisator took £(57,154, against £35,378 10s on the corresponding day last year. Results:— a Maiden Plate.—lolly Princess 1, Swift Flight 2, Lady Glissa 3. Time 1.15 4-5. Juvenile Handicap.—Leithfield L Hipo 2, Unahi 3. Won by a length, time 1.2. Hurdles.—Tenacious 1, Guerre a Mint 2, Mentmore 3. Won by four lengths. Time 3.15. Avondale Handicap.—Landslide 1. Gold Kjp 2, Blue Cross 3. Time 2.7. Oakley Handicap.—Dead Sweet 1, Sylvian 2, Bitholia 3. Won by a length and a half. Time 1.55 4-5. Chevalier Steeplechase.—Capsal 1, Coroglen’2, Lady Salvadan 3. Time 1.55. A.J.C. AUTUMN MEETING. FOURTH DAY’S RESULTS. SYDNEY, April 3. For the fourth day of the A.J.C. autumn meeting twenty-six thousand braved tlie elements. It had rained almost incessantly since T' riday night, consequently the going was heavy and favoured the lightweights. The race of the day, the A.J.C. Plate, attracted only four starters. Eu rythmic was scratched owing to a strained tendon. Salistros and David played a waiting o-atne. Foxglido and Kenaquahair sharing the pacemaking. The latter finished in an exhausted state. To the surprise of the majority the committee exercised its discretion and reduced tlie added money. Despite the had weather conditions, the making of a L' s! race was impossible. The committee s action is particularly extraordinary in view of them not taking any such action in 1920, when Poitrel won in over 7 minutes. The following are the results: — Rous Handicap.—Carmagrole 1. Golden Cello 2, Rhapsody 3. Won by a short bead. Time 1.31-J. Second Division.—Pickles and At fort dead beat, 1, Grand spark 3. Time i. 2 9 :;. Hangar Handicap.—Australian Sun 1, King of the Sea 2, Amazonian 3. Time 2. ILL Second, Steeplechase.—Mulgawillah L. Compromise 2, Angleform. 3. Mon by half a length. Time 0.55. Second Nursery Handicap.—At Gold 1, Master Cagou 2, Joan Hatan 3. Won by two lengths. Time l .40334 -3 A.J.C. Plate.—David L Salitros 2, Kenaquahair ,‘LW on easily by four lengths. Time 5.521.
