The test match was resumed to-day in lino cool weather. Raiislord and Forsberg resumed the Australians’ first innings. Both batsmen were very aggressive, carrying the score to 517, when Sandman heat Forsberg. Kippax followed, and gave a very line display of forceful batting. He lost Ransford at 562, the Australian Captain having compiled a well-played 128. Ratcliff as sisted Kippax to increase the total, and the pair carried the score to 663, when Rat'tlllie left. Tlie innings closed for 663.

New Zealand opened badly, the crack Canterbury batsman, Blunt, being run oiit when he looked like getting set. Smith gave a very line 'display, his 89 runs being invaluable.
