The rebels have at their command efficient •yele. pigeon, and scout services. Berlin is quiet, but a plot against the electricity works was detected. Communists at Bitterfeld disarmed the police and occupied public buildings. Troops repulsed the rebels at ITettstedt after violent fighting, in which artillery was used, the insurgents losing heavily. It is stated, in anticipation, that the Allies will restore Upper Silesia, that Cabinet is preparing to enforce autonomy. LONDON, March 29. A telegram from Essen, Germany, states that fifteen rioters were killed and forty wounded in a clash with the police. The rebels were driven out from Liuna. COMMUNISTS. BERLIN, March 29. Five hundred Rods occupied Mettmami near Dussel dorff, and proclaimed a Commufiist Republic. BERLIN, March 29. In reference to the recent attack on British troops in Upper Silesia, it appears a band of Poles blocked a lorry load of troops. There were no serious casualties and the attack was of no political significance, being due merely to anti-foreign leeling among the Poles owing to disappointment at the result of the plebiscite. Communist risings in Rhenish Westphalian districts wer c a greater success than Berlin. Violent lighting occurred in Essen and Dortmund. Many deaths are reported also a number of dynamite outrages. The Allies returned the Dusse.ldorf police their anus in order to organise a defence of the town against the Reds, who have occupied several smaller towns.
