A youth named Mallet, aged 19, on trial for his second murder, was sentenced yesterday to 10 years’ imprisonment.

At 15 be had stabbed a companion with whom be bad quarrelled. Owing to his youth lie was sent for this crime to a reformatory, from which he was released a year ago. In August lie killed a girl named Noelie because she refused to let him kiss her.

The girl, with her dying breath, dictated a message asking the judge not to be too severe on the murderer. This saved Mallet from the guillotine.
