Beverley West, ward of Joe Mordaunt and his son. Guv. read the article. Beverley has just received a message from her father stating lie is a prisoner on a cannibal isle, and destined to die unless she delivers in person the pearl given liy her father who obtained it when be visited the island five years previously. In tbe ease with tbe pearl is a small chart showing the location of a sunken vessel with a valuable cargo aboard. Stella Mordaunt posing as Beverley West presents tbe chief with the pearl, and tbe natives decide to sacrifice her. Beverley appears and is recognised as AYest’s real daughter, th,. bonds are transferred to her and she is placed in an iron safe and thrown into the sen. Harper rescued he.r. Finding the treasure is safe, .apparently with Beverley, the Alordaimts prepare to dynamite it. Harper, lights the diver sent down and obtains the treasure himself. Returning to the island lie frightens the superstitious natives with tbe girl whom they thought dead, and ATr West is rescued.
