(Received This Day at 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, March 23. Three hours desperate fighting followed an ambush of a. police patrol at Dingle, Kerry. Eight civilians were killed and twenty wounded. Four poj lice were wounded, not seriously. Police end military .searching for wanted men in Blasnev district, were ;
attacked from a farm outhouse. Six civilians were shot dead. In a running light lasting an hour at Lisparle, a policeman was shot dead and five wounded. Five Sinn Feiners were captured but escaped. Crown forces attempted to encircle tlie ambushers but failed. j Two hundred rebels ambushed a | party of the Ninth Lancers proceeding j from Stokestown to Langford for rn- 1 tions. About mid- . night Constable Carr challenged three ; men in, the vicinity of the ground up- ; on which several revolver shots wort* fired without wounding anybody. The j men bolted. The police scoured the district and arrested Patrick Fennell, a young Irishman. The latter, who was in bed when apprehended, was charged with attempted murder and was remanded. The police gave evidence that they found Sinn Fein badges and emblems on the prisoner. A WOMAN KILLED. (Received This TViv nt 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 23. A man fired on a crowd witnessing a loyalists funeral at Belfast and a woman was killed.
