was a small hut enthusiastic attendance at (lie meeting convened to consul or tlie advisability of procuring a motor ambulance for this district. Mr J. J. Breeze in the absence of the Mayor was voted to the chair. i Mr T. West, organiser of the St.
John Industrial 'Ambulance Association, the’convenor of the meeting, read correspondence that had passed between himself and the Health Department &t which it was stated that there was no probability of the Defence Department supplying the motor ambulance that had previously been promised. The correspondence was received. Air West then urged the necessity of procuring an up-to-date motor ambulance for this district and outlined at some length suggestions for the raising of a fund to provide the purchase money and an amount to enable the upkeep thereof anil the provision of its use frees to those requiring its services.

A suggestion that the. ambulance wlien obtained, be provided free to all users, was not approved, the meeting favouring a charge for its use to go towards the cost of upkeep. A further discussion then took place on the question of wages anil means, in which Rev. I). Holloway, Rev Dr. Kennedy, Alessrs Wild, Davidson, Jeffries, Mclntosh. Wood, Dull', Ritchie, ATcGregor and Chairman took part. ft was resolved that the appointment of a secretary be deferred to a Inter meeting, none of those present agreeing
to ncL in this capacity. It was further resolved that with a view to making collections at the forth coming race meetings, Messrs Jeffries, Afclntosh and AlcGrcgor with the Chair mrfn form a committee to arrange for same, a. meeting of ladies willing to assist in tlie general movement to he called for Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The representatives of the Borough and County Councils present notified that tlie movement had the favourable approval of their Councils, and promised every possihio support. On the motion of the Chairman a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Air West for fiis Jueid and interesting address and information. This was carried by acclamation. Mr West said lie could not act as secretary to the movement. but lie would give, all the assistance in bis power and suggested the utilisation of the general arrangements so successfully carried out in tlie raising of funds for the war memorial recently.
A motion of thanks to the Chairman 'or presiding brought the meeting to a ■lose.
