TIMARU, March 21

At the wool sale to-day nearly 12,000 bales were catalogued but a large number of clips were withdrawn before th e sale, and a very small percentage was sold. Merino super was Old to 10Id per lb., good 8d to 9d., super half-bred up to 9],d, good to 6d, medium to s ld, medium 3]d to 4RL, cross-bred (good) 3d to 3-]d, medium 21 to 2]d. A large quantity of scoured fetched practically no bids, and no sale was made. A large number of lots only brought bids of ljd to 2',d per lb. nml locks and pieces ns low as a halfpenny.

STRUCK BY LIGHTNING

During an exceptionally heavy thunder storm at Te Aroha West, on Monday afternoon, Maurice Tvcily’s six roomed residence was struck by lightning, which caused a fire destroying th 0 building. About fifteen minutes after, tlie Brigade arrived. The fact of detonations was mentioned and a search among the burning debris resulted in the finding of the body of Bnoadbent practically unlrecognis'able, the limbs being burnt off. It is reported that he had been acting qucerly lately, and his wife and two children left him on Sunday night and were not in the house at the time of the tragedy.
