After the ordinary routine of the , business was dispensed with, it was moved by Mr Hobinson and seconded that an endeavour should' lie made to have two turnouts made on the Hokitika Railway Bridge, which would tend to avoid serious accidents in the future, and to be a, greater convenience to the travelling public wlwi are ever on the increase. The turnouts were also considered more necessary now than at any other time in view of the traffic that is about to be practically stopped across the Knnieri Traffic .bridge, and widen wii 11 be diverted (over tfie Hoßjtika Railway Bridge, and owing to the importance of these turnouts being made, I it was decided to approach tne West- j land County Council, the Borough i Council and other Local Bodies to I

assist in the matter. | A resolution was also passed that in j view of the slow progress being made { with the Wanganui bridge in South ! Westland that the authorities b 0 approached to have a sectional bridge gone on with, or failing that, a low level bridge would be desirable. Owing to the heavy charges now being made for help in crossing this river, and the great increase in traffic, the above i request was considered quite justified. ] Straying stock next engaged the at- • tentioii of the meeting.
