AMUSEMENTS.

POLLARD’S PICTURES. “A DAUGHTER, OF 'EVE”—TONIGHT. Mr Pollard presents to-night' at the Princess Theatre, in conjunction with Pollard’s orchestra supplying the incidental music, an attractive all-British film depicting those sterling actors Violet Hopson and Stewart Rome in “A Daughter of Eve”. The picture is one full of thrills and a great climax that must be seen to lie appreciated. The stirring serial “Smashing Barriers" starring William Duncan will also he screened, the episode proving a very attractive oaf.

MCLEAN’S PICTURES. “THE COST” FRIDAY. A six reel Paramount entitled “The Cost,” produced by an all-star east including the English actress \ iolet Homing will he the main attraction tomorrow night at the Princess Theatre. David Graham Phillips’ widelyread novel, “The Cost,” as a Para-inount-Artornft picture, makes the debut of Violet Homing as a star particularly auspicious. Against the picture’s colourful backgrounds, A! isHeming shines with brilliance that stamps her as an acquisition. She portrays the role of an innocent hoardingschool girl of 17 who through an unfortunate marriage is brought face to face with uglier facts of life. Matured by her trials she meets her final test gloriously. The days of sorrow and sadness following are brought home by Miss lleming in striking contrast. “The Cost,” is recommended by the censor more especially for adult aud-

iences. The programme will also include a travelogue and the second episode of the new serial “Elmo the Fearless.”
