Albans, lies in the Liiristehurcn llospiLal suffering from cnest and scalp wounds. Dr Daniel, having with him in his ear a patient named alias Jiird, of Halswell, whom lie was conveying for treat ment in Christchurch, was driving along Lincoln Hoad at- about 4.50 p.m. when the accident occurred. According to eye-witnesses, the road was clear in the vicinity in which he was travelling, except for two boys on polo ponies. After ho had passed the ponies and was close to Whiteleigh avenue bis car was

observed to swerve sharply for no apparent reason. First the machine headed for the tram seat at the corner of Whitcleigh Avenue and Lincoln Hoad, then over to the right-hand side of the road. Suddenly it 'swerved hack again and capsized. One witness of the accident, stated that the car turned twice. It evidently landed on its wheels, facing hack to llalswell. I)r Daniels was taken to his residence by Mr J. Adams of Lyttelton Street, and then removed, on the advice of other doctors, to the Christchurch Hospital. Miss Till'd was taken on to her destination, and it was stated last night that she received no serious hurt, although her face was somewhat injured. • The ear was a three-seatcr. ot a fairly heavy build. The hind wheel was seen to be badly smashed alter the accident. It was thought that the accident might possibly have been accounted for bv the wheel collapsing before it took place. The wind screen was splintered, hut the ear did not otherwise appear to he very hadlv damaged.
