An apology was made tor the ahsence of Mr Lloyd. I he minutes were read and confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. I'iom Canterbury Board, notifying appointment of Messrs Irvine (headmaster) and Seehcck (assistant) ; also referring to repairs asked for.—Received. Rev Pnrehas moved that nenessary repairs to the caretaker’s house lie referred to the Board for speedy attention.—Seconded by Mr Aitken and carried. Prom Rector (Mr Irvine) reporting attendance for six weeks chided March Kith, as primary 27(i,7, out of roll of M()7, and secondary 61.0, out of roll number of 07; stating the junior teachers, Misses Bell and Chesterman and Mr Seehcck had taken up their duties, while the writer took up Ids duties on •'•arch Ist; recommending a scheme for the improvement of the school grounds; and asking for some repairs to the tennis court fence, and other necessary requirements.*—Received. In connection with the gazetted regulations affecting average attendances, it was resolved to refer lo the Canterbury Education Board on the subject, and to ask for a revision of the decision affecting assistant teacher at school. It was resolved to ask the Rector to endeavour to interest the teachers and scholars with a view to the holding of a bazaar to raise funds for the suggested improvement of the school grounds, it being further resolved to hold a bazaar on a date to he fixed. The Visiting Committee (Messrs Richards and Preston) reported on some small matters requiring attention. —Received. A complaint of wandering sheep was referred to the Caretaker to confer with the Borough Inspector. Some small accounts were passed for payment. It was resolved to dose the school from Good Friday until the following Monday week and to hold the usual term holiday of two weeks, coin mending on the first Friday in May, and two weeks at the end of August. The Committee rose at 8.80 p.m. (
