Air Weeks (Secretary of War) lias announced that Mr Harding is mindful of Air Wilson’s recommendation to congress to grant immediate independence to Pliillipines and has decided to send General Wood to the islands to determine the advisability of the course. It is understood Air Harding although previously recorded as not favouring the immediate granting of self rule to Filipinos will probably urge independence if General AVood favours the step.
