SEED WHEAT. DISTRIBUTION OF PURE STRAINS WELLINGTON, Alareh 2. The Minister of Agriculture stated today that the Agricultural Department, in eo-operation with the Cantcrhury Seed-Growers’ Association, has completed arrangements for handling and distributing a large amount of pure seed wheat during the coming season. This seed has been grown and threshed under Government supervision and the grower is to be paid a higher price than that to be fixed for milling wheat to compensate for the extra labour involved in production. The main varieties on sale by the Department will be Collego Hunters, Tuscan and Velvet. These pure strains are the result of many years selection by Lincoln Agricultural College, and in field trials have amply demonstrated superior yielding capacity over ordinary commercial seed. Their substitution for the ordinary type of seed in general use will have a very potent hearing on the future of the New Zealand wheat industry. Particulars of prices and how application for supplies should he made will be announced at an early date. We are making a splendid display of seasonable novelties in the millinery, fancy and dress department. We shall he pleased to see you, and an early visit is desirable. Schroder and Co.— Advt. WOLFE’S SCHNAPPS, vastly suoerorior to all other stimulants.
