Tlie Dublin courtmartial tried James Greene Hill Porter, on a charge of murdering Colonel Montgomery on '2lst November; also with aiding an unknown man who wounded Montgomery, to escape. A verdict was returned that Greene was not guilty of murder. Similar charges regarding other officers murdered in the hotel were not proceeded with. The decision regarding the charge that accused was an accessory after the fact will be promulgated. COURT MARTIAL OF THIRTY. LONDON, Feb. 23. Thirty of the Irish auxiliaries (Crown forces) who wore recently dismissed on charges of organised looting, have been reinstated. This is in order that they may be court-martialled. General Ccozier, head of the Auxiliaries and the Adjutant, have resigned in connection with the matter. Apparently this is a protest against the men’s reinstatement. General Tudor, who is chief of the Constabulary, explains that these men should not be dismissed without his intervention. After their trial, General Tudor states lie instituted a court of inquiry forthwith. which ■ is' still proceeding. He adds the accused would not beal lowed to return to their own units in any circumstances. Sir H. Greenwood states he has given instructions that the severest penalties be imposed on any persons found guilty CORK “COMPENSATION.” LONDON, February 23. The Recorder at Cork has awarded the Corporation £134,250 as compensation for the destruction of the city hall, the municipal buildings and the Carnegie library on December lltli. The amount, however, will be levied on the county of Cork. A SCENE OF DISORDER. (Received This Day at 8.40 a.m.) LONDON, February 23. Wild scenes followed the shoo'ting of the Unionist merchant at Rossiea, Fermanagh. Nine houses and shops ivere burned down. It is alleged to have been done by civilians.
