TILE WATER FRONT

[by TELEGRAPH—FEB. PRESS ASSOCIATION] MARKING TIME! DUNEDIN, Feb. 22. Employers and workers continue to mark time at the Dnuedin waterfront. The Tarawera, Kaiapoi, and Lenemi are still tied up and no work is being ■ carried out on them. Work on two vessels, the Corinna and Sealda, which had been started before the trouble commenced, was continued to-day as far as broken weather would permit. With the departure of these.two vessels work at Dunedin will have come to a standstill. It is possible that a number of local carting firms will shortly have to dispense with some of their men owing to lack of carting from the wharves. THE POSITION AT LYTTELTON. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 22. The question of overtime which is perturbing shipping people at most New Zealand ports has been quite overshadowed at Lyttelton by the serious position which has arisen in regard to the shortage of railway trucks and the few vessels in port could not work this /afternoon for want of trucks. The watersiders say it is not much, use fighting about overtime when there is practically no overtime offering. POSITION AT TIMARU. TIMARU, Feb. 22. The watersiders refused last night to work overtime on the Wanaka, loading produce for Auckland. j No work was done this afternoon cvv- | ing to heavy rain. The steamers Canopus, Cosmos Wanaka, and John are now in port.
