j \I*VII LHA I'vT STOCK S'. I K I The fortnightly fixture at these Yards was held yesterday, the yarding, comprising 45 head of fat cattle which were submitted to the usual attendance of buyers. Competition was irregular through the sale and there was a distinct easing of prices for anything except the best ox beef which ranged from 40/- to 52/6 per hundred, j Messrs W. Jeffries and Co. sold as follows:—On account Mr S. G. Ferguson. 2 bullocks at £l6/2/6, 2 at £ls/12/6 3 at £ls/10/-, 3 at £ls/7/6, 2 at 3at £l3/7/6. On account Mr H. Karn•hach, 1 bullock at £l7/10/-, 2 at £ls, 2 at £l3/2/6, 1 at £l3/12/6, 3 at £ll/15/-, 1 at £ll/2/6, 2 at £ll. 2 at £9/12/6, 1 heifer at £9, 2 cows at £6 17/6. On account Mr W. H. Karnbacli, 1 bullock at £l7, 4 at £ll/2/6, 2 at £lO, 1 cow at £6/17/6. On account Mr G. Harcourt, 1 dry t-o"' at £6/10/-. SUCCESSFUL HORSE SALE. Considerable interest was evinced in the Special Horse Sale held in the Mart Yards, Hokitika, this morning by Messrs W. Jeffries and Cby., there being a very large attendance of buyers present. The principal yarding of horses was from Mr E. Cron’s Estate at the Haast and though all were unbroken they came into the ring shod and handled, all of them exhibiting plenty of hone and the makings of excellent aged horses. Six of Air Crons entry were by the well-known Hiawatha, the Australian imported Clydesdale of thoroughbred and trotting mares. The remaining two were by the well-known sire Field-Marshal. Bidding was spirited and the Auctioneer had no difficulty in quitting every entry. The following sales wore made:—
Lot- I.—Filly hv Hiawatha year old to Mr A. Vroblfski for £2l/10 -. Lot 2. Filly hy Field-Marshal 1 year old to Mr J. Butcher £34. Lot 3.—Filly hy Hiawatha 3 year old to Mr J. Butcher for £27. Lot 4.—Filly hy Hiawatha to Mr H. Karnbach for £2O. Lot s. —Gelding hy Hiawatha 3 year old to Mr Carter for £2l/10/-. Lot 6.—Filly by Hiawatha 3 year old to Mr F. Wall for £26/10/-. Lot 7.—Filly by Field-Marshal 3 year old to Mr J. Butcher for £46/10/-. Other sales of horses were as follows: On account of Mr C. Sparkes, hay harness mare 4 year old to Mr John Cloher for £22. On account Mr L. Williamson, chestnut hack, filly by Romany Rye to Mr Rhodes for £5 10s. On account Mr Rallies Mlne’ian, bay harness gelding to Mr W. McFadven for £l2. On account of various clients, tip dray £3O, rustic cart £l7, set of trap harness £4 15s, and 1 set for £6. SALE OF FARM PROPERTY. At the conclusion of the above sale, the auctioneers offered the dairy farm at
Arahura, the property of Messrs Bond and Millett to auction as a going concern, the details of which have already appeared in this paper. The bidding opened at £3(XX) and in sums of £250 went to £3500, and thence by increases of £IOO it reached £3BOO at which price it was passed to Mr I). Jellie. Negotiations are proceeding this afternoon for sale by private treaty when it is expected the reserve will be obtained.
