I fu Y TELEGRAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION] THE RARLIAMEXTARY TOUR. GISBORNE, Feb. 18. ’The Parliamentary party this morning journeyed to Opotiki and Motu, travelling by Motu Gorge. After luncheon at Motu the party visits the timber mills of "the district and inspects the site of the Waikohu, hydroelectric works, which it is hoped will supply Gisltorne district with electricity within two years. Extensive tunv ling operations are in progress and the site is stripped for the erection of a large dam across Waikohu Valley. A large party of townspeople interested in the Waikohu project went out to meet the visitors and show them over the works. Te Karaka will lie reached for afternoon tea and an official welcome will be tendered at Gisborne this evening, the occasion being taken at the same time to make a presentation from the Gisborne people to Sir James Canoll, in recognition of his long service as a representative. ' Just- as the southbound main trunk express had drntfn into the platform at Hunterville yesterday morning the north bound express passed bv at a high speed, on (he rails the other train had just left. It is stated that the up express had missed the tablet at Hunterville, having passed through with the signal against it. The down train was considerably delayed as the tablet had to be brought Mangaonoho Mr MacDonald, Assistant Railways Manager .stated that there was some misunderstanding on the part of the driver of tlu l up express.
