A special meeting of the Westland County Council has been called in connection with the visit of the Rt. Hon. the Prime Minister. Messrs Perry (Mayor), Murdoch (County Chairman), Wild, (Chairman of Progress League), with Hons. Rt Mon. \Y. F. Massey, Prime Minister will be accorded a public reception at the Town Hall this evening at 8 o’clock, when the .Mayor and others will speak, and the Prime Minister is expected to make an extended reply. A large attendance is expected, and Indies are specially invited to attend.
Messrs M .Houston and Co. notify an important auction sale of furniture and effects in the mart. Early to-morrow morning the Hon Mr Massey, as Minister of Mines, will be taken to South Hokitika to inspect the large dredge in the course of erection there. On return to town, deputations will be taken at the County Chambers, and at mid-day the Ministerial party is timed to leave for Greymouth, where Mr Massey is due at 3 p.m.

A serious accident happened to Mr Frank Rndoniski, aged 5G years, a wellknown resident of Kanieri, yesterday. While engaged in falling timber in the hush for Whiley’s sawmill on the Kokatalii road, a tree that had been felled came hack off the stump striking Radomski and seriously injuring him. He was brought into Westland Hospital in a. motor car on a stretcher, where his injuries were attended to. They comprise a fracture of the left thigh and left forearm, three ribs on the left side, a large scalp wound and abdominal injuries. This morning on enquiry wo learnt that the injured man was doing as well ns could be expected.
