Little business is doing in Australian hides, as English hides are very cheap. There are only nominal quotations. Good Australian hides are Is to Is 3d. For best grades there is a fair demand. Commoner sorts are neglected.

CANADIAN WOOL DEAL

TORONTO, Feb. 11. The president of the Canadian Wool Growers, Limited, owned and operated by sheep breeders, announces the organisation sold 3,400,0001 b of wool last voar at prices as high as GO, cents a pound. Since January Ist, 1,800,0001bs were sold. Of the sales, 45 per ce-nt went to Canadian buyers, and 51 per cent to American buyers. The balance of 4 per cent went to Britain. GERMANY’S INDEMNITY OFFER BERLIN, Feb 14.

Dr Simons in a speech at Stuttgart declared the reparations demands, which were based on Germany’s future exports, wore fantastical.
