Brilliant weather favoured the second day of the above races, and a great crowd attended. The tote put through £46,366, against £47,300 on Ibe second day last year. There was no totalisator for the Stakes to-day.

An enquiry under Part 25, Clause 1, regarding the running of Vespucci was held. Mason, the* trainer is reported as saying that as Vespucci was sore, he instructed the jockey not to push him. The Poverty Bay Turf Club’s glimmer Meeting opened in ideal weather, and in the presence of a good attendance. Torrential rains on Tuesday night made the going slightly on the heavy side. The toalisator investments were £24,924, compared with £23,659 on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £1263. Results: Welter Handicap.—Whnnako 1, Pntetonga 2, Sunrny 3.
