! THE NORTH ISLAND TRIP. j | The Parliamentary tour of the East ('oast of the North Island promises to be on an unusually big scale. At a meeting last week of the committee organising the tour, it was stated that (JI4OO had been promised to finance the trip, and further donations were expected. The itinerary provides for the parly assembling at Rotorua on 12th. inst., spending this and the succeeding days in the vicinity of that town, and visiting Taupo and other rtv sorts. On the 16th, the party will jour- , ney to Whnkatane spending the night there. On the 18tli., Motu will be the first stopping place, the hydro-electric works at Rakauroa, and several big sawmills being inspected during the day. Gislwirno will he reached that night, and next morning, the 19th., will see the party on its way up the East Coast, staying overnight at Ruatorea. The 20th., it is expected, will find the party at Waimoatatini (the Hon. T. Ngata’s home), and may, if the weather permits, also include a visit to Hicks Bay. The night will be spent at AVaimatatini, and on Feburarv 21st., a native entertainment will be* provided at AVaiomatatini, and the party will later return as far as Tokomaru Bay, visiting en route the Te Puia springs. On the following day. February 22nd., ail early start will he made from Tokomaru, and with a call at Tologa Bay. Gisborne should be reached for luncheon. The afternoon will be spent sight-seeing around the town, and a civic reception and social function will he tendered in the evening. The 23rd. of February will be spent in proceeding to Wairoa, taking in a native demonstration at Mauntil ke pa. It is expected that some of the party will take the Wh are rata Morcre road, while others travel liy the Hangaroa and Tiniroto road. Tt 'is the intention to show Parliamentarians who make the latter section of the trip, the proposed Gisborne-Hangaroa road, and saddle horses will he provided for those who wish to cover the uncompleted section of the road. Waikaremoana will be visited on February 24th., and the night will he again spent in Wairoa, The last day of the tour will he spent in reaching Napier from Wairoa, and here the tour will he concluded.
