AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION

WESTLAND BRANCH

A meeting of the above Association was -held on Saturday, Feb. sth, at 8 p.ni. There were present Mr G. Davidson (Chairman'), Messrs Simpson, Williams, Seale, Robinson, Stuart, and Perham.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and a large quantity of inward and outward correspondence dealt with. A letter received from the Hon W. Nosworthv, Minister for Tourists and Health Resorts, notifying that an appropriation of £BOO is available for widening and improving Lake Kauieri road subject to the local County Council’s proposal for expenditure being approved by him, after some discussion it was left .in the Secretary’s hands to reply to. It was decided to write the County Council drawing their attention to the dangerous corner at Havills, Kanin i Forks. The view of this corner is obstructed by the part of the building which appears to be on the road and to inquire if a portion of tile building, which is apparently not used, could he removed.

The Secretary was further instructed to write The Resident Engineer, Greymouth, thanking him for the work that bad been expedited in bridging streams on the Otira-Kumara road, its several bridges over streams have already been erected and the improvement lias been much appreciated by members of the Association and others. It was also resolved to thank the Borough Council for improvements effected in the Borough to several ol t lie streets.

Mr James Hende was proposed as a member and duly elected, after which accounts were passed for payment. The meeting terminated at 0.80 p.m.
