The Hon C. J. Parr, Minister of Kducation, visited Feilding to-day for the 1 purpose of laying the foundation stone j of the Agricultural Technical High' School. | Speaking at a civic reception, Mr | Parr said that the problems of peace and reconstruction were more difficult ; than the problems of war, hut the country would pull through. New Zealand s | chief problem was national safety. He referred to the naval position in the Pacific. Great Britain, he said, having annihilated the German Navy, seeking a naval holiday. Japan was agreeable, but America was building up a big ileet, compelling Japan to follow suit. It was essential to New Zealam to have a strong navy m the aci <. \ s a citizen of the Empire, he could not feel easy at Britain losing the supremacy of the seas. Our Government had to keep an eye on the rntei national outlook. This afternoon Mr Parr laid the foundation stone of the new school, and congratulated the district on providing twenty acres free of cost to the Government for this school. The new building will cost 145, 000. and a hostel is to fie added later.
