The Board met on Friday at Christchurch. Present —Mr E. H. Andrews (chairman), Hon. J. Grimmond M.L.C., and Messrs W r . A. Banks, H. J. Bignell, G. W. Armitago, A. Peverill, JJamieson, T. Hughes, W. P. Spencer, and J. I). Gow. Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs J. Maze I and C. S. The teacher reported that hoard and lodgings were unobtainable, it was agreed to inform the Kokiri Committie that the Board might bo compelled to close the school. The Supervisor’s report for the month
was read and adopted. Tl was agreed to grant Miss Blackrnore, Cookery Histruetress at the Normal, two month.-* leave of absence. The Supervisor’s annual report was read and adopted. It- was recommended that the Supervisor and the large staff of manual instructors in the employ of the Board he complimented on the good work done in connexion with the Manual and TVchnienl branch throughout the year. APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS. Appointments made included: Blackball, Mr W. Stirling, headmaster; Hokitika, Mr T. Irvine, headmaster, and Mr A. Seebock assistant master; Wntaroa, Mr A J. Rawstorn, master; Assistant lecturer in home science and English, Miss A. F. Ironside. The resignations received and accepted included: —Kumara, Miss IT. Kollv, probationer; l’aroa. Miss F. M. Butcher Assistant Mistress; Ruatapu, Mrs M. Childe. assistant mistress.
The Appointment Committee reported that the Department had writen asking the Imard to administer the new regulations for the transfer of teach ors in a reasonable manner, so as not to inflict undue hardship on the teachers. It had been pointed out that it had not boon found necessary to take any action, the senior inspector being satisfied that teachers holding positions which had risen in grade were competent.
