The annual council meeting of the Coal Shale Employees’ Federation carried a no-coiifideneo motion in the Ministry for its failures to -reinstate the strikers victimised in 1917, and also decided to make the following demands on New Zealand coal owners:—-A six hours shift from hank to bank, a tortnigbt s holiday on full pay, and a five day week. Owing to coal shortage as the result of the shipping trouble, government is limiting .1-ace meetings on Saturday. The fixtures will he postponed unless the position is improved meantime, l.ie forthcoming Victoria Amateur Race Club’s February meeting may have to he postponed. MELBOURNE, January 31.
